I had a dream!
What if when I wake up and see my reflection in the morning I felt gratitude for being alive. What if all the beauty I seek externally was within me? What if, instead of judgment I saw myself as a work of art that is in the process of being crafted. Then I wondered, why hide the beauty of creation me under makeup and artifice? Why not just celebrate all of me in my complexity and simplicity?
I thought to simply let myself celebrate the body in front of the mirror, just looking at it benevolently; learning to observe the inner chatter of appreciation for this part and disgust for another or wishing it to be any other way.
As a woman, I think it is time to allow. To simply let my body be exactly what is—gloriously natural with what I may or may not perceive as flaws.
I then thought to let myself have fun and play with my wardrobe and experience freedom of expression; We live in a world where we have the luxury to question and decide how we are going to cover our nakedness. How can I honor my current mood and feelings through my wardrobe?
Whatever stage of life or mood you might find yourself in, I encourage you to play with your clothes, to go to the colors that appeal to you on that day; to connect with your various pieces. Only wear what appeals to you on that day. Perhaps you want to feel light and free—so choose accordingly ( for example, light colors blues and draped fabric that are sensuous like silk ). Perhaps you woke up feeling the need for safety and protection, so in this case, you should choose earthy colors and a more structured jacket with a high neck in a tweed if it is in the Winter. On a day when you want to be feminine in a work environment you’d choose a classic jacket and pants, and play with the accessories or incorporate a flashy top with a flowy neckline.
In the end, whatever you choose, trust your inner knowing of what is right at the moment.
I encourage you to cultivate conversation with yourself and how you feel when it comes to choosing a wardrobe. This can definitely make for some fun insight into your creative expression, needs and wants.
It's your turn now.
